ABOUT US

JJ Fitz is composed of the talented lineup of John Fitzpatrick, Jacob Fitzpatrick, Dennis “Flash” Valencia, Peter Powers, and Kris Castillo.

The band began to form in early 2020, during the challenges posed by the pandemic. Two years earlier, John (who had battled with addiction his entire life and been through many rehab programs) checked into the Colony of Mercy at America’s Keswick, in Whiting, NJ. For years he tried to get free but had never been able to stay sober for any real length of time.
At the Colony of Mercy, a faith-based rehabilitation program, John was introduced to the real Gospel for the first time ever, as well as a form of trauma counseling that caused him to take a deep look inside and find out what was driving his addictive behaviors.

John shares, "I had never even heard of trauma counseling, nor understood what the real Gospel meant and how it impacted every single area of my life. But truthfully, at that point I was willing to try anything. I had lost almost everything and was frankly just sick and tired. Little did I know that facing much of my past pain and allowing God to meet me in the midst of it, was going to be the very thing that would dramatically heal my heart and change my life".

During this transformative period, John picked up his guitar for the first time in years and used music as a way to express the many emotions welling up inside him. No longer controlled by past wounds, and with more than an album worth of songs, he decided to start the band JJ Fitz with his son Jacob and use it as a vehicle to share his story via music and testimony.

With a commitment to crafting authentic and heartfelt original music, JJ Fitz invites listeners on a musical journey that resonates with the soul, and all of life’s struggles and joys.
